World IBD Day
CCA has been working with our international counterparts to organise an inaugural World IBD Day, to be held on Wednesday, May 19.
The date coincides with National Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Week 2010, which will be held May 16-22.
The purpose of the day will be to bring to international attention the needs of people living with IBD, articulated with a unified worldwide voice.
The leading IBD organisations from Australia, America, Canada, Europe, the UK and South America will be taking part. The website, www.worldibdday.org, outlines the aims of the day and the support required for people living with Crohn’s or colitis.
CCA chief executive Francesca Manglaviti said taking an international approach would help to highlight all of the issues relating to IBD.
"Harnessing extra noise for our cause of making life more livable for people with IBD will help us to raise awareness within the general community, governments and workplaces," Ms Manglaviti said.
CCA members can help raise awareness and funds during the week by supporting CCA’s media campaign and events, and organising awareness activities in their workplace, school or social club. CCA staff can provide posters, donation boxes and fundraising tips to support your event.
Please contact CCA if you wish to share your story in media or or take part in fundraising events.
